The all new 2008 Ford Escape hybrid is a full hybrid that can stay on electric-only mode for up to 25 mph. It comes equipped with a 155hp, 2.3L, Atkinson Cycle gasoline engine and a NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery stored under the flat load floor of the cargo area. The transition from the electric motor to the gasoline engine is very smooth. The transmission is an electronically controlled, continuously variable transmission. The Ford Escape hybrid uses renerative braking system transforms the vehicle’s momentum into electrical energy that is stored in batteries for later use. The Ford Escape Hybrid is the most fuel efficient SUV on the market today.
The newly redesigned interiors are comfortable and fresh compared to the previous model. The vehicle comes with an impressive list of standard and available features such as dual zone climate control, temperature display, in-dash DVD navigation system, premium sound package, heated leather seats, etc. Lacking is a factory installed DVD entertainment system.
The 2008 ford escape is available in FWD or AWD models, with the FWD priced at $25, 265 for the base model and the AWD priced at $27,015 for the base model. The vehicle provides 34mpg in the city and has a fuel saving engine start/stop system that shuts off the gasoline engine when at a stop. Under full speed, the Ford Escape hybrid provides extra oomph to the gasonline engine by using it’s battery power.
Qualified buyers can get a tax credit of $3,000 on the FWD model and $2,200 on the AWD model.
