The 3rd generation Prius announced in Japan has already pre-sold 80,000 for 2010 delivery. Toyota has introduced several new upgrades over the 2009 model, the outstanding one being the increased gas mileage of 50 mpg vs the 46 mpg. In addition, there are other cool features that include an optional solar panel to power the cabin vent fans, electric A/C unit that can be controlled via remote (even while the car is not running), LED lights, etc
Toyota has not announced a date for release outside of Japan. Here is a sneak peek:
