Can you travel around the world without spending a dollar on gas? A school teacher from Switzerland has done just that. He has built a solar taxi that primarily uses solar energy to power the car with backup energy coming from plugging the car into a grid while at rest. Energy is stored in a ZEBRA battery pack. The car can travel at top speeds of 60 mph and travel up to 60 miles on battery power when the sun is not shining.
Mr. Palmer has driven it through many countries without any major problems with plans to travel through over 40 countries. Mr. Palmer always had a vision since he was 14 that he would travel the world in a solar powered car. Now, at the age of 36, he is on his way to making his dream a reality. The car took over 3 years to build with the assistance of several universities in Switzerland.
Mr. Palmer hopes he can demonstrate to the world that solar energy is a practical and clean way to power our vehicles.

No I have never heard of electric roadways before,
Here is another idea, why not have a bolt on,roof mounted, wind operated battery charger with solar on top for city driving, never need to plug in to power!
